Frequently asked questions

How many pixels is 11×17 at 300 DPI?

3,300 × 5,100 pixels in portrait, 5,100 × 3,300 in landscape. At 200 DPI it is 2,200 × 3,400 and at 150 DPI 1,650 × 2,550. A poster on a wall looks sharp at 200 DPI, so 2,200 × 3,400 is enough for most buyers.

Which file ratio prints 11×17?

11×17 is not one of the six standard wall-art ratios. The closest is 2:3: printing a 2:3 file to fill an 11×17 trims about 3% of the image, roughly a third of an inch off the width. A 12×18 master at 3,600 × 5,400 pixels covers it.

Is 11×17 the same as A3?

Close, but not the same. A3 is 297 × 420 mm, about 11.7 × 16.5 inches, a little wider and shorter than 11×17. An A3 file printed on tabloid paper loses about 8% from the sides, or leaves a white band at the top and bottom.
