Frequently asked questions

How many pixels is an 18×24 at 300 DPI?

5,400 × 7,200 pixels in portrait, 7,200 × 5,400 in landscape. At 200 DPI it is 3,600 × 4,800 and at 150 DPI 2,700 × 3,600. A poster this size is usually seen from a distance, so 200 DPI is enough unless buyers look at it up close.

Which other sizes share the 18×24 ratio?

6×8, 9×12, 12×16 and 18×24 are all 3:4, so one 3:4 file prints every one of them without a crop. Export the master at 18×24 size, 5,400 × 7,200 pixels, and the smaller sizes print from it at well above 300 DPI.

Will an 18×24 file print at 24×36?

Not without a crop. 24×36 is 2:3, taller than 3:4, so filling it with an 18×24 file trims about 11% of the image from the sides, and the file prints at only 200 DPI at that size. Sell 24×36 from a separate 2:3 master.
